At The Guitar Dojo our teachers are full-time (not casuals!) and ready to support you when needed. Which means that your connection with your teacher doesn't end after your 1-on-1 private lesson.
We are here for you all week if you need help between lessons and you can expect a response same day to any messages (24 business hours if later in the day). And when we're not supporting you we're working on interactive learning materials for you to use at home.

Frequently asked questions
Do you supply all learning materials?
In short -yes. Ours is a highly interactive program with all materials available inside your own app account. The are no extra book fees , credit card fees , registration fees etc..
Do you teach total beginners?
Absolutely! We get asked this a lot so presumably there are schools out there who don't like taking on beginners. We love teaching beginners and seeing them progress to intermediate level and beyond.
Do you teach bass guitar/classical guitar?
We are focused largely on electric guitar and acoustic guitar across popular styles - rock , blues, pop , metal. Unfortunately we do not offer bass guitar , classical guitar , banjo etc......
Do you teach adults?
Absolutely! We currently have more adults than kids and our students range from 10 years old to 80 years old.
What is your availability like?
We're proud to say that currently our average student has been with us for 2-3 years. Such a loyal group of long term members means that availability can be tight and we do generally have a waiting list for peak times. Please get in touch via the messaging widget on this page and we'll do our best to offer a time that works for you.
Our teaching hours are Mon-Thurs: 5pm-8.30pm and Saturdays 10am-1pm.
Do you offer buddy lessons?
We have done and will continue to offer buddy lessons (2 per class) where there is a single account holder. Generally this means that the students will be siblings , father/son etc......but this can be a great option in the right situation . Pricing will be reduced by 50% for the 2nd membership.

Do you offer online lessons and/or courses?
We are well equipped to provide online lessons , having done so for 2 years or so during the COVID period. Online courses are not something we currently offer , but stay tuned for something big coming in 2026 that will change the game there!
Can you assist with taking music exams?
Absolutely! Exams are an option for all students working through the Rockschool curriculum with us. We have also assisted students taking VCE music.
What experience and certifications do your instructors have?
Currently the owner Brent is the only available teacher. He has decades of experience as a player and teacher and has completed many music related qualifications over the years. All the way from Grade 5 Classical Guitar as a teen to VCE Music on electric guitar in the early 1990s to a Professional Certificate In Rock Guitar from the Berklee College of Music (USA) in more recent times.
Can you travel to my home for lessons?
Never say never , but the answer is currently "no." If there was a very specific case for an exception (special needs etc..) then we may consider it. No harm in asking!
Do your teachers all have a current Working With Children Check (employee grade)?
Yes - any teacher employed by The Guitar Dojo requires a current WWCC.
Do you offer group classes?
Group classes are becoming more common as , frankly , they are a financial necessity for most schools to survive - and the more music schools the better! They can also be beneficial for students in terms of flexibility, playing with others and social atmosphere. So we have nothing against them and if it appeals to you then it's great for you and the for the music school.
